Amsterdam
In the first days of June I visited a good friend in
Amsterdam. I got to know him in Portugal in May during our stay in the Surf and Yoga camp. He was my roommate and we were sure that we see us again.
I decided
very quickly to go to Amsterdam because it was on my list for a long time. And
even two weeks after my stay at Francesco‘s place I am still overwhelmed. I
really really loved the city. Sure, the weather was awesome but I also had a
crush on the vibe of the city as well as the architecture, the water, the
friendly people. I like the internationality a lot. Everyone speaks english and
they didn‘t treat me like a foreigner. We went to a small concert and the
singer spoke in english. We went to a yoga class and it was in english. I like
that a lot.
I also like that Amsterdam isn’t very far. The flight is 45
minutes. The way from the airport to the city centre is super easy by train for
5 euro. I went to Francesco’s place immediately after my arrival. After a very
warm welcoming he told me where to go because he had to prepare for his
concert. I then walked approx. 12 km through Amsterdam. I was so amazed that I
forgot to take pictures. I took 3 (!) pictures during my 3 hours walk. After
that I went to the concert and I didn’t expect very muchy to be honest. But I
was wrong: It was a very short and small concert but the singer was incredible
and also the band. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and talked to a few
people.
The next day we went to a trip through the city by bike after
breakfast. We went north to a very fancy café before going back to the city
centre, heading for the best icecream in town. We went to a cool park where we
saw a concert going on incidentally. But Francesco told me that it was a very
famous singer and the songs they played were amazing! And it was for free. As it
was getting late we decided to go to an indian restaurant which was expensive
and not that good. But the beer after that in a very cool bar was worth it. We finished
the day with two episodes breaking bad :)
At my leaving day we had a nice breakfast again and went to
a vinyasa yoga class at delight yoga. We didn’t find it immediately but the
studio was very nice. More or less hidden in a typical dutch house with nice
stairs and old rooms which I liked a lot. At the top was a yoga room and the
lesson was perfect. I still felt it three days afterwards.
I left Amsterdam at around 3 pm in the direction of Hamburg.
I can definitely say that it wasn’t my last time there! I’ll be back, baby :)
